Computer Information Systems

The Mount Olive College CIS programs offer top of the line curriculum that are based on industry standards. A graduate from this program will gain the skills and knowledge needed to become a leader in their area of specialization.

The department offers three degree programs in the Computer Information Systems Major. The B.S., B.A.S., and an evening modular program . We also offer a minor is CIS.

B.S. and B.A.S. in Computer Information Systems

The Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems allow students to combine a degree in information technology with the core business disciplines. Elective courses allow students to specialize in a specific area of interest, such as Programming, Networking, Computer Security, Web Development, Database Management, etc.

Each degree includes a core of CIS courses focusing on programming, systems analysis and design, database management systems, networks and data communications, and the management of information technology. Students will also be exposed to the business disciplines through the school of business core courses. We believe this gives you both a way to enter the IT area, as well as, the business savvy to move up within it.

Students can also develop professional experience through internships and cooperative education in Fortune 500 companies, non-profit and health care organizations, and with small businesses. The supervised work experience provides the student with hands-on experience in hardware and software technology, applications, and organizational operations.
