Course Description

An introduction to the association between fitness and mortality, the relevance of initiating and adhering to a lifetime fitness program, and the effects of a healthy lifestyle on quality of life and longevity. (3 sh)

To qualify for credit

A student must demonstrate learning outcomes in at least 70% of the content areas of the course, either through personal life experiences or through professional training and development.

Steps to follow when seeking credit

  1. Look through the table of contents of the current textbook used in the class (listed above for Health 110). Decide if your learning experiences are compatible with the topics taught in the class. . If a textbook is not available, request a copy of the syllabus by e-mailing the Department Chair. scarter@moc.edu
  2. Develop a written outline highlighting your experiences and learning outcomes from each experience.
  3. E-mail the outline with a request for a preliminary review for credit to Dr. Sharon Carter, Chair, Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies (RLS) at . scarter@moc.edu. Upon approval from the Department of RLS write either a Life Learning paper or a PST (if appropriate) following the guidelines in the ELC Manual.
