The Department of Fine Arts mission is to provide educational opportunities that will enable our students to become competent in the theory and practice of visual art and music. The Department will emphasize technical proficiency, conceptual understanding, increased awareness of the student's artistic talents, and the role of the arts in society.

Scholarships & Awards
Art & Visual Communications Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in Art and Visual Communications based on the review of a portfolio reflecting the student's creativity and skill.
Concert Choir Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate by audition a high level of choral ability and proven commitment to the choral ensemble experience.
Kathleen B. Warren Music Award
A scholarship given in honor of Kathleen B. Warren, Professor Emerita, who taught voice at Mount Olive College from 1958 - 1981. The award is given to a returning student selected by the music faculty for outstanding musical ability.
William L. Warren Instrumental Scholarship
A scholarship begun in 1996 by Mrs. Kathleen Warren in memory of her husband, William L. Warren. The scholarship is given to a student for outstanding instrumental music accomplishment. The recipient is selected by the music faculty.
Charles B. and Margenette A. Hinnant Music Scholarship
A scholarship given in memory of Margenette A. Hinnant and in honor of Charles B. Hinnant, trustee of Mount Olive College. The recipient, a music major who exhibits exceptional talent, is chosen by the music faculty.
Student Organizations
Art Club
The purpose of the Art Club is to encourage and promote membership among all students, to strengthen the relationships between students within the Art Department, to expand student knowledge through enrichment experiences and planned activities, and to have fun.
College Concert Choir
The College has a 55-voice concert choir which performs a varied repertoire from classical to modern spiritual music in concert and church settings. Membership is by audition and open to all students.
Free Spirit
Free Spirit is a 12-member Christian ensemble that presents the Gospel through contemporary music. The group ministers regularly in church services, at youth meetings, and at club and community functions throughout the region.
Mount Olive College Singers
The Mount Olive College Singers is a show concert choir of 13 students -- seven men and six women. This song and dance troupe performs popular, patriotic, and Broadway musical numbers at conventions, shopping malls, festivals, banquets, church dinners, and schools. The Singers have performed throughout North Carolina and from New York to Florida. Membership is by invitation and audition.
Mount Olive Community Ensemble
Open to all student musicians (all wind, percussion, string instruments included).
