Requirements for Graduation

To be awarded a degree from Mount Olive College, a student must:

  • Be in good standing at the College
  • Must complete at least 126 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 on all studies at Mount Olive College with no grade lower than C on required major courses.
  • Complete minimum residence-hour requirements: 18 semester hours in residence for an Associate degree - 32 semester hours in residence, of which at least 18 semester hours must be in the major for the Baccalaureate degree
  • Fulfill all College and Departmental assessment requirements
  • Fulfill all financial obligations to the College

How do I know if I am on track for graduation?

You may make an appointment with your advisor at your Mount Olive College location, and they will check your progress toward graduation.

When should I file for graduation?

File with the Registrar an application for graduation by March 15th for the May Commencement, May 1st for the August Commencement, and October 15th for the December Commencement, and pay to the Business Office a nonrefundable graduation fee. (Students from the New Bern, Wilmington, Washington and Research Triangle Park should contact their respective locations. There, you will complete your application and meet with your assessment counselor to ensure that all graduation requirements will be met.)
