Campus Safety’s number one priority is the safety and well- being of our campus community. We are located 512 Henderson Street. Campus Safety is under the division of Student Development. We provide 24 –hour coverage seven days a week. Officers’ duties consist of patrolling the entire campus, securing buildings and property, issuing citations and parking regulations, working special events and responding to calls for assistance, and providing educational seminars and events.

Mission Statement
Every effort is made to keep each location a safe place for students to study, work, and live. Questions and concerns should be referred to the Campus Safety Office of Student Development. A Campus Safety Officer is on duty 24 hours a day at the Mount Olive location to ensure the safety of the college campus. Any condition that could endanger the welfare of students should be reported immediately to the appropriate authority (a Campus Safety Officer or other Student Development staff member).

Campus Crime Statistics
Mount Olive College is concerned about the safety and welfare of all students, faculty, staff and visitors. Crime Statistics for the five Mount Olive College locations are available via this link or may be requested from the Student Development Office, 634 Henderson ST., Mount Olive, NC 28365.
The federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act requires institutions of higher education to issue a statement advising the campus community where law enforcement agency information provided by a State concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained. The following North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry website has further information and requests for information can be submitted electronically: http://sexoffender.ncdoj.gov/contact.aspx.

- Campus Safety Escort Service: Provides a walking and driving service throughout the entire campus.
- Lost and Found: All items can be retrieved at the Campus Safety office.
- Operation ID: Protect your personal property by having your property engraved free of charge.
- Ripped Off: A courtesy card to remind you could have been ripped off
- Laptop Registration: Students are encouraged to register their laptops with campus safety free of charge and prevent theft
- Bike Registration: Students are encouraged to register their bikes with campus safety free of charge and prevent theft.
- Crime Alerts: Timely warnings and information of incidents on campus.
- Anonymous Tips Site: Provide anonymous information to the Campus Safety Office regarding possible crimes, planned crimes, policy violations, and/or crime information.
- Emergency Blue Lights: Self-activated emergency system.
Tips for Residents
- Always lock your room/apartment door
- Visiting next door, lock your door
- Going to the café, lock your door
- Going to the game room, lock your door
- Going to the lobby, lock your door

- Never leave exterior doors propped open, always take time to remove the prop. This will keep you safe as well as others.
- Never leave valuables in plain sight
- Do not bring a lot of valuables from home
- Keep your blinds closed at night
- Purchase a locker with a lock
- Never let strangers in your room, even if they tell you they are visiting a friend.
- Do not keep a lot of cash in your room
- Please talk to your roommate about the security of the room you will be sharing, very important!!!
- All dorms and halls exterior doors are locked 24 hours
More Tips
- Walk with someone, especially after dark
- Wear bright clothes when walking
- Do not wear headphones when walking
- Stay in well lit areas, streets, and paths
- Call Campus Safety if you need to be escorted back to the residence halls or apartment buildings
- Let your roommate or RA know you are leaving and your expected arrival time as a safety precaution

- Keep a full charge on your cell phone
- Do not give your important information to strangers
- If you feel you are being followed do not come directly back to campus. Drive to the Mount Olive Police Department and explain what is happening. Mount Olive Police dept. is located on 114 E. James Street. N. Breazeale Ave. pass the Pizza Village, turn left at stop light (James St.) keep straight down, go over the railroad tracks and the police station is on the right, behind the City Hall Building. Follow the road to the back of the building. When you go out with a group of friends make sure that everyone is accounted for before leaving.

- Purses and wallets should be kept in a secure location (locked desk drawer, locked file cabinet or trunk of vehicle).
- Never leave keys in office door.
- Lock the last person inside when leaving building.
Identity Theft Prevention
- Do not provide your personal information unless you are certain it is necessary.
- Do not provide information over the telephone unless you initiated the call.
- Contact the Better Business Bureau to confirm whether or not an organization is reputable/exists.
- Check your credit report once a year from a major credit bureau.

Drug and Alcohol Facts: Drug-Free Campus
- Alcohol is not allowed on campus or in the Residence Facilities
- GHB, Rohypnol (Roofies) and Ketamine (Special K) are odorless and tasteless, making it easy for someone to slip them into your drink. If you are drugged, you may be sedated for up to 6 hours during which time you will lose inhibitions, succumb to drowsiness, slur your speech and forget what happens.

- Never ride with an impaired driver
- Never get behind the wheel if you consume alcohol or take drugs
- Alcohol and drugs compromise your safety by lowering inhibitions and clouding your judgment.
