Summer Orientation
If you plan to begin classes with us as a first year student in the fall,
then you are required to attend one of these advising days during the summer:
Friday, June 19
Saturday, June 27
The purpose of Advising Day is to go over vital financial aid information, residence hall regulations, campus information, and for you to meet with your advisor and register for classes. Your student I.D. will also be issued at this time and other paperwork collected to make sure that you are ready to go in August.
Parents should plan on attending with you too! Just remember that college is an important step and there is a lot of information to learn. Allow yourself the full day to get everything done that you need to do.
Fall 2009 Welcome Week
Move-In Day: Saturday, August 15
The residence halls open and you can officially begin your college career. Come move in and get settled before classes begin. We have lots of fun activities planned. Get to know your roommate, resident advisor, resident life coordinator, and all the other great people here at MOC here for you. Check this page later for a handy guide on the things you may want to bring and those you might want to leave behind.
In addition, you will begin activities required through the Freshman Seminar (ADV 112) course. These activities are required and attendance will be taken, so stay tuned for more details about when and where you are to meet for class.
Saturday and Sunday: Freshman Seminar begins!!!
ADV 112 is designed to orient new students to the traditions, purposes, and expections on a college education. Through lectures, guest speakers, assignments, and activities you will learn about the MOC campus and the resources that are available to help you achieve a rewarding and successful academic program. This course is required for all first-year students. If you have not yet declared a major, your ADV 112 instructor will serve as your academic advisor. There will also be upperclass students present during each session to answer any questions you may have about the campus.
Sunday is full of informational sessions for all first year students. These sessions are mandatory whether or not you are planning to live on campus.
Monday
Today is a day for Community Service projects and Scholarship meetings. Your ADV class will also meet.
Tuesday
This is a day filled with wellness presentations, work study & student athlete meetings, and your first CAB Event. It's your last day before classes begin tomorrow!
Wednesday
Classes start! Are you ready? If you find you need to rearrange your schedule (add or drop courses), meet with your advisor this week.
