Church Support
Brought into existence and nurtured for over fifty years by the Original Free Will Baptist Church, Mount Olive College keeps a clear focus on its mission as an institution of Christian higher education. The College has a unique opportunity to foster and encourage spiritual growth and the development of Christian character in its students. The College offers an integration of faith and learning which is essential for its students' intellectual and spiritual growth.
A ministry in higher education is as important to the Church today as it was in 1951. Nurturing from a caring Church has been the environment that has cradled and supported the trek of the College to maturity as an educational institution. Each year members of the Free Will Baptist Church give of themselves and their treasure in an unselfish manner to help make a difference in the lives of Mount Olive College students.
An annual dinner program was started in 1963 to create an opportunity for Free Will Baptists to provide much-needed funds for the College. What began as "Benefit Suppers" for Mount Olive College has proven to be an invaluable financial resource for the College. During the 2008-2009 academic year, more than 200 churches participated in the College Dinner program with gifts totaling $540,427. The dinners have provided an opportunity for Free Will Baptists to share in helping others develop their lives and an avenue to encourage Free Will Baptist students to take advantage of the educational opportunities offered by the College.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Jean F. Ackiss, director of church support, eighteen county-wide dinners were be held during the fall of 2008. We invite every Free Will Baptist to prayerfully consider their stewardship for this ministry.
