Pete Skirpstas Earns All-Tournament Honors At Conference Carolinas Tournament
Pete Skirpstas tied for sixth out of 55 golfers and was named to the All-Tournament Team as Mount Olive finished eighth out of 11 teams at the 2009 Conference Carolinas Men’s Golf Championship at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, N.C. The 54-hole tournament concluded Tuesday.
Skirpstas followed a first-round 74 and an even-par 72 in the second round with another 74 for a 4-over-par 220. Fabrizio Ceppi (81-72-73--226) moved up 10 spots into a tie for 17th, Riley Boyette (79-75-78—232) tied for 26th, Ryan Campbell (78-75-82—234) tied for 35th and Scott Woodard (80-79-81—240) tied for 47th.
Mount Olive carded a team score of 311-293-306--910. Barton won the tournament by two shots over Coker.
The Trojans, which have been regionally ranked most of the year, will wait to find out if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA II Super Regional. Mount Olive has advanced to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Tournament in each of the last three years.
