Trojans Sign Three More To NLI's
Mount Olive has signed three more recruits to men’s basketball National Letters-of-Intent, it was announced by Trojan head coach Joey Higginbotham. Mahamed “Mo” Ibrahim, Ewon Wright and Lamonte Thues will enroll at Mount Olive College this fall.
Ibrahim, a 6-5 forward from Annandale, Va., averaged 13.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game at Jeb Stuart High School. He was named to the All-National District Team and the All-National District Defensive Team.
“Mo is a versatile player who can play multiple positions,” said Higginbotham. “He has a tremendous work ethic.”
Wright, a 6-0 guard from Fayetteville, N.C., averaged 14.1 points per game at Westover High School. Playing for head coach George Stackhouse, Wright was named to the All-Midsoutheastern Conference Team.
“Ewon is a very intelligent player who can really shoot the ball from the outside,” said Higginbotham. “He also played for a great high school coach.”
Thues, a 6-0 guard from Suffolk, Va., is a transfer from Brunswick Community College. An All-Region X second team selection, Thues averaged 12.6 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting 43 percent from three-point range. Brunswick CC posted a 24-7 record in 2008-09 and won the Region X regular season title.
“Lamonte will help us with our ball handling,” said Higginbotham. “He can play all our guard positions.”
Higginbotham added, “We are excited to add Mo, Ewon and Lamonte to our Trojan family. They all will bring a lot to our basketball program and to our school.”
The three join guard Edward Jenkins, Higginbotham’s first signee for 2009-10.
Mount Olive posted an 18-10 record in 2008-09 and won a share of the Conference Carolinas regular season title for the second year in a row.
