Mount Olive Ranked No. 9 In USTFCCCA Division II Southeast Region
Mount Olive is ranked No. 9 in this week’s USTFCCCA Division II Men’s Cross Country Southeast Region Poll, as voted on by members of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The regional ranking is the first for the Trojan men’s cross country program since winning the NCAA II South Atlantic Regional in 2001.
Mount Olive is coming off a fourth-place finish in the 2009 Conference Carolinas Men’s Cross Country Championship Friday at Charlotte, N.C. The Trojans came within two points of finishing in the top three.
Kerry Maloney finished 13th out of 82 runners and earned All-Conference Carolinas third team honors. Maloney was among four Trojan runners to finish in the top 26, joining Kevin Ryan (19th), Paul Hoffman (25th) and Ronnie Sturgill (26th).
Mount Olive is one of four Conference Carolinas teams ranked in the top 10, joining top-ranked Queens, No. 4 Lees-McRae and No. 8 Anderson.
Mount Olive will compete in the 2009 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional November 7 at Wingate, N.C.
