Rebeccah Hecke Named To CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team
Mount Olive College senior Rebeccah Hecke has been named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Women’s Soccer Academic All-District 3 second team, as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. The award recognizes excellence in academics and athletics.
Hecke, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, has a perfect 4.0 grade point average majoring in exercise science. A transfer from North Greenville University, Hecke was named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters during the 2008-09 academic year.
On the field, Hecke is tied for the team lead with four assists. She recorded two assists against Limestone and scored a goal in the Trojans’ 2-0 win over North Greenville.
Hecke becomes the third Trojan women’s soccer player in the last five years to earn Academic All-District honors. She joins 2005 Academic All-District selection Emily Escolas and 2006 Academic All-District selection April Jacobs.
Hecke will be among six Trojan seniors honored Saturday during Senior Day festivities as Mount Olive plays host to Anderson in a Conference Carolinas match-up. Match time is 1 p.m. at Amon Field.
