Mount Olive Holds At No. 9 In USTFCCCA Men's Cross Country Southeast Region Poll
Mount Olive is ranked No. 9 for the second consecutive week in this week’s USTFCCCA Division II Men’s Cross Country Southeast Region Poll, as voted on by members of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The poll is the last one before this weekend’s NCAA II Southeast Regional.
Mount Olive earned its first regional ranking in eight years after a fourth-place finish in the 2009 Conference Carolinas Men’s Cross Country Championship October 23 at Charlotte, N.C. The Trojans came within two points of finishing in the top three.
Kerry Maloney finished 13th out of 82 runners and earned All-Conference Carolinas third team honors. Maloney was among four Trojan runners to finish in the top 26, joining Kevin Ryan (19th), Paul Hoffman (25th) and Ronnie Sturgill (26th).
Mount Olive is one of four Conference Carolinas teams ranked in the top 10, joining top-ranked Queens, No. 4 Lees-McRae and No. 8 Anderson.
Mount Olive will compete in the 2009 NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Southeast Regional Saturday at Wingate, N.C. In addition, Nikolette Lucas and Melissa Moore will represent Mount Olive at the Division II Women’s Cross Country Southeast Regional, also at Wingate.
