All positions require an earned doctorate in field. Mount Olive College promotes active learning modes, experiential learning, and student engagement. All positions start on August 1, 2013.Teaching responsibilities will include four classes in fall and spring semester under a nine-month contract.

 

School of Arts and Sciences

Biological Sciences

The Department of Biological and Physical Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences at Mount Olive College invites applications for a broadly trained and highly motivated full time faculty member of Biological Sciences beginning August 2013. A PhD in biological sciences or related areas is required, and preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record of teaching excellence at 4 year liberal arts institutions, with a demonstrated commitment to student and college service. Successful candidates will be able to teach majors and non-majors introductory Biology, and majors’ courses that complement the existing strengths of the Department. As a student centric institution, candidates are expected to maintain an active program of student mentorship via directed research and internship opportunities.

 

Health and Physical Education

The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Health Education and Promotion. The department offersa Teacher Licensure Program in Health and Physical Education. The ideal candidate will have licensure to teach health at the high school level.

Qualifications include a terminal degree in Health Education and Promotion or a closely related field. Applicants should have knowledge of the National Health Education Standards from the American Association of Health Education (AAHE) and the National Standards for Physical Education from the National Association of Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). Applicants will prepare teacher licensure candidates in various methods, tools, technology and curricula in Health Education. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this position requires field supervision, student advising, and service to the college, community and profession.

 

Music Education

Mount Olive College seeks to fill a full-time faculty position in Music Education with Vocal Emphasis. The successful candidate should possess an earned doctorate in Music Education. Responsibilities will include the direction of the college concert and chamber choirs as well as the recruitment and advisement of music education majors. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching, service, and engagement. Choral experience teaching secondary education is desirable.

 

English Education

Mount Olive College seeks to fill a full-time faculty position in English Education with experience in teaching composition. The successful candidate should possess an earned doctorate in English Education. Additional experience teaching technical/professional writing or rhetoric and/or experience teaching secondary education is desirable. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching, service, and engagement.

 

Psychology

The Psychology Department at Mount Olive College seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in Psychology beginning fall of 2013. The ideal candidate will be expected to teach courses in introduction to psychology, research methods and statistics, as well as courses in his/her area of specialty and should have an interest in mentoring undergraduate research projects. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Psychology, those specializing in social and/or health psychology will be given special consideration. Candidates who are ABD will be considered at the time of application but all requirements for the Ph.D. must be completed by August 1, 2013.

 

Criminal Justice

The Department of Criminal Justice, Criminology & Sociology invites applications for a full-time faculty position.  The department offers a B.S. in Criminal Justice/Criminology and a minor in Sociology.  Specialty is open, but a successful candidate should be able to teach core courses and have the capability to teach on-line as well as in the classroom.  Qualifications include a PHD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology or another related field.  A Masters in Criminal Justice with a Juris Doctor may qualify as a terminal degree for the purpose of this position.  Applicants should be well-versed in at least two of the following fields: Law, Sociological/Criminological Theory, Criminal Justice Systems, and Research Methods.  Practitioner experience in the field is a plus.  Professors advise students, review and revise curriculum, teach four courses per semester, and serve the college, community and profession.

 

Tillman School of Business

Finance

The Division of Management Systems seeks applicants for a faculty position in Finance starting in fall 2013. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited AACSB/ACBSP institution in any area of Finance. The successful applicant will have evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals; a record of teaching or research in one or more of the following areas: international finance, corporate finance, derivatives, or investments; managerial or professional business experience; professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CFP, CFM); and excellent oral and written communication skills.

The Division of Management Services seeks applicants for a faculty position in Healthcare Management starting in fall 2013. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in any area of health care, AUPHA/CAHME accredited institution graduates are highly preferred. The successful candidate will have evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals; a record of teaching and research in field; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Accounting

The Division of Management Services seeks applicants for a faculty position in Accounting starting in fall 2013. Candidates must hold a master’s degree from an accredited AACSB/ACBSP institution in accounting, doctoral degree preferred. Certifications such as the CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE are desired. The successful candidate will have evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals; a record of teaching and research in field; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

International Business

The Division of Management Systems seeks applicants for a faculty position in International Business starting in fall 2013. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited AACSB/ACBSP institution. Staff & Administrative Positions

Financial Aid Technician

The Mount Olive College Financial Aid Office is searching for a Financial Aid Technician. This individual will allocate financial aid funds among qualified students within established eligibility criteria accurately and timely and in compliance with institutional, federal and state policies and regulations. Understand and comply with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. Process financial aid award packages, FAFSA verification, and other financial aid forms including direct loans. Download data files from EDE into campus wide PowerFaids; maintain, correct and submit all variations back to EDE. Implement the schedule of all award letters, missing form letters, and loan disbursement letters for students and/or parents. Complete all records of all federal, state and/or institutional funds as assigned. Complete folder set up, awarding and packaging for all student aid applicants. Maintain orderly files with organized and timely filing procedures. Review all drops, withdrawals, re-admits and re-package as appropriate. Graphic Designer

Mount Olive College seeks a Graphic Designer.  The Graphic Designer will be responsible for maintaining a consistent look and feel with regards to all college communications.  The Graphic Designer will be challenged to find the most effective ways to get messages across in print and electronic media using color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques.  Candidates must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, specifically strong in InDesign.  Skills in photography and photo editing are required.  Must be MAC and PC proficient.  Must have ability to multitask.  Skills in videography a plus.  Candidates should have bachelor’s degree in graphic design or visual communications, with three to five years’ experience preferred.  Interested candidates should send resume and cover letter to Rhonda Jessup at rjessup@moc.edu.

 

Assistant Human Resources Director

Mount Olive College at Mount Olive has an immediate opening for an Assistant Director of Human Resources. This position requires a service oriented mentality and a willingness "to go the extra mile" to support the needs of the college and  employees. Responsibilities include:Recruiting and staffing logistics;  Manage improvement tracking systems;   Oversee employee orientation, development, and training logistics and recordkeeping;  Assisting with employee relations in a timely manner;   Develop, administer and evaluate major programs or projects; Manage compensation and benefits administration and recordkeeping; Provides guidance and consistency in policy and procedure;   Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and local employment laws.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and a  combination of education with a minimum of four years of experience in Human Resources or business related field. Only candidates with at least three years of prior experience as a Human Resources Generalist will be considered; Excellent communication, writing, planning, organizational and interpersonal skills coupled with professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information a must. Bus Driver

Mount Olive College is searching for a part-time bus driver to drive athletic teams and singing groups in a 29-passenger bus.
