President


 Mount Olive College is initiating the search process for a new President.  Below is the position description for the position of President.

 

The president serves as the chief executive officer of Mount Olive College and reports to the Board of Trustees.  He or she is charged to provide leadership in working with the Board to develop a vision for the progress of the College and to lead the administration of the College in the strategic management of goals and resources to fulfill the mission. 

The ability to encompass the broad view of the opportunities and responsibilities confronting the College at all its locations while attending to the details essential to successful operations are necessary attributes. 

Interpersonal skills reflecting an appreciation for the contributions of a wide spectrum of persons who serve the College including students, faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, donors and volunteers must be evident in the words and deeds of the president. 

Personal characteristics will include a demonstrated commitment to a leadership style capable of “enhancing the possible” for providing approaches to educating a diverse assemblage of students in creative and enabling ways.  Mount Olive College has adopted as its hallmark a dedication to seeking innovative ways to achieve educational ends not possible through the ordinary.  The president must set the stride and lead the charge to make this so. 

A terminal degree in one of the disciplines of the College is desirable; a record of outstanding leadership is essential, and a successful experience in higher education a strength. The president shall be a person who gives unqualified evidence of his or her Christian faith and commitment to the mission of the College as stated in its Charter and as interpreted by the Board of Trustees.  In addition, he or she shall possess and maintain those academic, professional, personal, and moral qualities necessary for the presidency of an institution of Christian higher education. 

Specified Duties of the President:  The president shall be directly and ultimately responsible to the Board for the overall direction, management and control of the College, its policies, its officers, its faculty and students.  He or she shall have the privilege of the floor at all meetings of the Board and of any committee except when an executive session is called.  The Board of Trustees has assigned to the president, under policies established by the Board, responsibility for assuring that the following duties are satisfactorily performed: 

a)      The administration of policies governing the academic, religious, moral and social life of the Corporation;

b)      The administration of the business and fiscal affairs of the College;

c)      The preparation, presentation and administration of annual budgets;

d)      In conjunction with the Board, planning and carrying out programs to insure sufficient funds for the operation of the College;

e)      Providing and maintaining a program of public relations to keep the constituencies of the College properly informed on its programs and activities;

f)        The assignment for use of College property;

g)      The selection and supervision of personnel capable of implementing effectively the affairs of the College;

h)      Subject to Board or designated standing committee approval, the selection and appointment of major administrative officers who report directly to the president and the employment of all persons with faculty rank; and

i)        All other duties as shall be necessary for the sound, educational, spiritual and business administration of the College.

Professional Studies:

Recreation/Leisure Studies

The Department of Recreation & Leisure Studies at MOUNT OLIVE COLLEGE, Mount Olive, North Carolina invites applications for a full-time position in the Department of Recreation & Leisure Studies beginning August 2009, with the possibility of being considered for Department Chair.  The Department offers undergraduate options in Leisure Service Management, Recreational Therapy, Sport Management, Exercise Science and Physical Education. Duties include teaching the Recreational Therapy option; advising majors; working with the department on program development and assessment; planning and budgeting.

The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in the recreation field, have the CTRS credential, and be eligible for licensure by the NC Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure. Administrative experience is necessary if interested in being considered for Department Chair. Faculty rank will depend on demonstrated scholarship, teaching, and service.

Accounting Department


Comptroller


Mount Olive College has an opening for an energetic, innovative, management oriented Comptroller.  Key responsibilities include maintenance of the general ledger and all accounting systems, internal and external financial reporting, and coordination of external audits.  Position supervises two fulltime and one part time employee. Payroll Coordinator


 

Mount Olive College at Mount Olive has an opening for a full time Payroll Coordinator in the Accounting Department. Key responsibilities include processing bi-weekly and monthly payroll using a web based payroll system, responding to employee payroll inquiries, audit inquiries, and ensuring that all transactions are accurate and timely. Qualifications include: a high school diploma, 3 years (preferred) prior experience using a sophisticated payroll system, and excellent Microsoft Outlook/Excel/Word experience. Mount Olive College is searching for a part-time bus driver to drive athletic teams and singing groups in a 29-passenger bus. Must have flexible schedule since travel may be overnight and on any day of the week. Must have valid NC Class "B" license with "P" endorsement or Class "A" CDL and good driving record. Director of Advisement


Mount Olive College at Mount Olive is looking for a Director of Advisement for their Student Success Center.  The Director is responsible for developing a comprehensive advising program and initiating and coordinating a network of programs and outreach efforts to promote the academic success of traditional and non-traditional students.  Successful candidate will also provide general advising support for new and continuing students.Qualifications include:  Master’s Degree required and a minimum of one year experience in higher education within the area of academic advising or teaching.

Men's Residence Life Coordinator


Mount Olive College at Mount Olive is searching for a Men’s Residence Life Coordinator. Individual will be responsible for the administration and supervision of assigned residence facility and staff. Individual will have involvement in judicial affairs, counseling, and advisement of resident students. Individual will enforce campus policies and procedures, facilitate holistic student growth in conjunction with Student Development staff. Individual will also be responsible for emergency response, crisis intervention, staff training, advising students and holding office hours.
