Pate and Whitley Crowned Mr. and Ms. Mount Olive College

MOUNT OLIVE- Jack Pate of Mount Olive and Brandi N. Whitley of Black Creek have been crowned Mr. and Ms. Mount Olive College.

Pate, a senior biology major, is the son of Frances Pate.  Pate was also named Most Talented for the males.  For his talent, Pate sang Your Man by Josh Turner.
 
Whitley, a senior English Communications major, is the daughter of Bryan Whitley and Wendy Ezzell.  Whitley was also named Ms. Congeniality and Most Talented for the females.  For her talent, Whitley sang The Alto’s Lament by Zina Goldrich. 
 
“Bee All You Can Bee” was the theme of this year’s scholarship pageant in which nine contestants competed in interview, casual wear, talent and formal wear categories.  Pate and Whitley each received a $500 scholarship along with additional prizes from area businesses.  The 1st Runners Up each received a $200 scholarship and a trophy.  The Most Talented contestants each received a $100 scholarship.
 
The 1st Runner-Up for Mr. MOC was George Mitchell of Princeton.   Alex Sikes of Dunn was chosen 1st Runner Up for Ms. MOC.  Christopher Matthews of Dudley was named Mr. Congeniality. 
 
Mount Olive College is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values.
