Dr. Opey D. Jeanes will be the commencement speaker. Jeanes has been the vice president for special services at Mount Olive College for over 20 years. He is also the director of MOC at Goldsboro located on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Jeanes is an experienced college administrator with 52 years of service, including all phases of college planning, teaching, accreditation, operations and development with special interest in the area of academic administration. He has experience working with diverse groups such as administrators, faculty and staff within a college, as well as community leaders and state agencies. He also has extensive experience in regional accreditation through service on more than 30 evaluation committees.
Jeanes holds a B.A. in chemistry from Atlantic Christian College, an M.A. in chemistry from George Peabody College and an Ed.D. in college administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University.
Jeanes and his wife, Jenny, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple has three grown children, Dale, James and Paul.
Dr. Ruby Bell will be the baccalaureate speaker. She is an assistant professor of education and chair of the Education Department at Mount Olive College.
The baccalaureate service is scheduled for 10:30 AM in Southern Bank Auditorium.
